Asticou Terraces Trail & Landing
At the base of Asticou Hill and Eliot Mountain on Northeast Harbor, a public landing and dock is maintained by the Land & Garden Preserve. The dock can be used as a temporary dinghy landing while sailors enjoy the hike up the trails or come ashore for the day.
The Asticou Terraces Trail starts adjacent to Peabody Drive/Route 3 across the road from the lower parking lot. Click here for map.
This trail is a moderate uphill climb that traverses the hillside and provides scenic outlooks and resting places as it ascends to the Thuya Lodge and Garden. Originally designed at the end of the nineteenth century as the main access point for the upper property, the trail is a well maintained quiet entry to the lovely hillside retreat and provides a place to enjoy many spectacular views over Northeast Harbor.
