Lecture by Patrick Chassé
Wednesday, July 17 at 6 PM
Northeast Harbor Library, Northeast Harbor, ME 04662
Patrick Chassé, ASLA, will lecture on the evolution and physical and philosophical relationships among five historic gardens on Mt. Desert Island — the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden, the Asticou Azalea Garden, Thuya Garden, Reef Point, and Garland Farm — five gardens variously influenced by Beatrix Farrand. Mr. Chassé is uniquely qualified to tell this interwoven tale from the standpoint of one who has worked professionally in four of the gardens, (Reef Point was deconstructed when he was a child) and as a landscape architect from the Harvard School of Design who has dedicated a significant portion of his career to historic gardens and landscape preservation.
The Lecture is sponsored by the Beth Straus Education Fund of the Land & Garden Preserve and
the Northeast Harbor Library.
