The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden is a private garden in Seal Harbor, Maine that was built by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller and her husband, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. in the 1920’s.  The garden was designed by Beatrix Farrand and blends Eastern and Western landscape traditions in a summer season display. This book was recently published by David Rockefeller, son of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller and current owner of the garden and its surrounding lands. The book includes three sections:  a revised and edited chapter on the history of the garden, first researched and written by Patrick Chasse in 1990; “Notes for Gardeners,” a section highlighting the annual flow of activity, planting and decision making that goes into keeping this historic garden healthy and beautiful, newly written by Neva Goodwin, the current garden director and grandaughter of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller; and a third section describing the history and provenance of the sculpture and garden objects, an update by curator Peter Johnson of the research and work originally completed by Julia Murray in 1994.  A Foreword to the book is written by David Rockefeller, 2009.
